Hurricanes attending second meet of season

September 28, 2018

The Holland Hurricanes will travel to their second ACAA meet of the season this Saturday at Beech Hill Park in Sackville, New Brunswick; the meet is hosted by the Mount Allison University Mounties.

The ‘Canes are looking to continue their strong season after their September 15 results where the men’s team finished second and the women’s team had a fifth-place individual result.

The Hurricanes are looking to continue to get better as they battle with five other members of the ACAA.

This year’s Hurricanes squad consists of all rookies to the ACAA circuit with the exception of one returning runner, Haley Shea, who captured bronze at last year’s conference championships.

Shea has taken on a leadership role with the team and is optimistic of the team’s chances.

“As this year’s only returning runner I hope to make all of my teammates realize they have potential and always feel they are valued by their teammates,” she shared.  “I hope by becoming a united and supportive team that each individual can contribute to keeping our runners motivated and perform to the best of their ability for themselves and their team members.”

The women’s race will begin at noon on the six-kilometre course while the men will follow with a 1pm start on the eight-kilometre course.

The Hurricanes are the hosts of the 2018 ACAA Cross Country Running Championships on October 27.
